So, I'm new to the game thanks to the Steam Summer Sale. My problem is, I can not seem to get water. I've had crab shells which I thought I could use to get water, I can't though and I can't figure out how to make a bucket so does anyone have any suggestion on how I can get water?

All you have to do to fill a container (bucket, cup...) is dunk it in some water. You want fresh water, so don't put it in the sea. When it rains all you have to do is hold it out in the open for a second and it will be filled, I think the waterfalls you can find are fresh water too but I'm nor certain about that.
When you hover over a water container it will tell you how much water is in it and if it's fresh or saltwater.

The question now is where to get a cup or bucket? I had the crab shell but it would never gather water.

If you find a waterfall you can also stand under it to fill your thirst without a container for it.

If you look in the menu it will tell you the items you need to make a cup, I can't remember exactly what they are but you get them from making a pick and mining a few boulders

odddino is correct, making a cup on the random map game mode is pretty much your only option and until then you will probably just have to stand under waterfalls.
It is a valid point though, literally the first thing I tried to do in UtO was catch water in a palm frond. Maybe a couple of these items could be used as water catching devices but cannot actually hold it like a cup or bucket can? i.e cannot be place in inventory and retain water.

I was hoping Coconuts would replenish your Thirst, since, you know, they DO have Coconut Milk inside.

@ Mo, I expected the same thing but I think those details will be ironed out in later builds or when there is time in general, gotta install the guts of the game first.
