Hey guys just a quick update on progress of the first Alpha release - we were aiming for a 14th of May first alpha but we are pushing it back some more as the game isn't fun yet and we would like to get it in a playable state before we post out the first Alpha builds. How long will this take? This month would be nice but depends on a series of factors - I will keep this thread updated with progress of the first alpha and edit the top post as a more final date is decided.

Sounds good to me, the 14th was my first guess.

Hmm, too bad. But it's definitely understandable! I am very happy you take the time to polish up the game!

We were actually planning to release on the 15th so we could play Diablo 3

Diablo 3 was a letdown, I much prefer Path of Exile.

Hmm, I never played Diablo I or II, but I am playing the Diablo III closed beta right now because I bought a WoW annual pass, and I have to say.. Diablo III looks like a really fun game. [:

You don't have to be perfectionists over the first alpha release. I understand and appreciate polish, and I don't want to sound like a butt here. I know you guys are putting a lot of work into this.
Nobody expects it to be a perfect representation on it's first release. Don't be so hard on yourselves. But I guess you guys know best what the game's current state is.
And no I'm not bashing anyone. I love everyone here. Thanks to all who contribute. [Especially the developers]
-edit-
OH, also I am grateful for the updates on the situation. Many examples of year long waits with no communication seems to be big with a few developers who will not be named.

I can't wait to see alpha as well, but I can see why they're delaying alpha. It's absolutely necessary for the alpha to be fun enough to generate a lot of attention to the game. If they'll release Alpha 1.0 and promise to add fun in Alpha 1.1, guess what - nobody will care or come back later to check that mysterious Alpha 1.1. Major releases (alpha, beta, etc) are not just releases, they are also presentations, so they have to be spot-on. I would prefer if they take another month to make alpha rather then to release a half-fun build in a few days and call it alpha.

That's exactly right; we don't care about the feature set, or making things perfect; we care about the game being fun right out the gate. As it happens, we ended up implementing a whole bunch more features than we thought we would to make it fun; but I think we're getting there! Shouldn't be long now

Yeah I get everyone's point. My comment was on the fact that the video logs looked fun to me, but also that I don't have the whole picture.
Anyway I can wait and am glad the team cares enough to put lots of fun into the game.
[which is rare these days in some well known companies]
